There was a large event on the steps of the Barker Hotel today at noon. The Baker has been sold to an investment group, and the 64 million dollar 3 year project restoration started today. When complete the Baker will employ 120 permanent jobs. During the construction phase there will be many workers employed, and I see this helping the area's economy. The street was blocked off, and there was a very large crowd for a Thursday noon announcement. The Barker project has been the talk of the region for many years, and it is finally getting off the ground. Look for Mineral Wells to take off.
